Banfield opened in Portland, Oregon, in 1955 and now counts more than 1,000 hospitals across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, with more than 3,600 veterinarians among its 19,000-plus associates. Mars, Incorporated has owned it since 2007. The medicine leans preventive, built around Optimum Wellness Plans that cover a pet's routine care for life, and Banfield sorts that care into five areas: primary care, preventable disease, oral health, mobility, and nutrition. If you want a practice where checkups and prevention are the main event, that's the design here.
Banfield's hospital teams are veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, and the client experience coordinators who run the front desk.
